Meet Sheryle and Mark Hodapp
On any given day, you can find Stoneridge Creek resident Mark Hodapp joining his fellow neighbors inside the on-campus woodshop. “I’m working on a bookcase right now,” said Mark. The retired engineer says the woodshop has led him to meet some of his new neighbors after he and his wife Sherlye moved into the community in August 2020.
“Our family was very supportive of our move, even during the pandemic,” said Sheryle. The Hodapps contemplated their decision, but in the end, they say they couldn’t have picked a better time to move. “This was the best thing we could have done. From the moment we moved in, we felt safe. The staff has been so friendly and kind. They’ve done everything to make us feel welcome.”
The Pleasanton natives chose the community because of its location, excellent lifestyle opportunities and best-in-class services. Access to long-term care at the adjacent
CreekView Health Center – should they ever need it – was another important factor.
“The move to Stoneridge Creek was a great motivator for us to downsize,” said Sheryle. “Stoneridge Creek had a team that helped us with everything from an estate planner to a real estate agent … they helped make this dream a reality.”
The Hodapps say they’re able to enjoy several of the amenities and benefits of living at Stoneridge Creek.
“The food is very good,” according to Mark. “We’ve been able to enjoy dining outside, and we look forward to getting to know more of our neighbors when the inside dining area opens soon.”
Stoneridge Creek residents were some of the first people in the country to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in January. More than 99% of the residents, including the Hodapps, were eager to be vaccinated.
“We appreciate the community’s effort to get us all vaccinated so quickly,” said Sheryle. “I’m looking forward to joining the bridge club and several committees. There’s just so much to do!”
Beginning in March, Stoneridge Creek will move forward with a phased reopening of more services and amenities, including dining, activities, and the fitness program.
For the Hodapps, they’re glad they moved into the community when they did.
“I’m so happy I get to see the sunrise and sunset every day from my apartment,” said Sheryle. “I have so much peace of mind to be here. The night we moved in, we both slept better than we have in years. In a year like 2020, we have so much to be thankful for. Topping that list is our move to Stoneridge Creek.”
